Peculiarities of BM Equipment Chemical Cleaning in Different Process Cycles and Processes

Procedures for regeneration of membrane filtration properties, in other words, cleaning, are very important in BM technologies/processes. Membrane cleaning is performed by the fixed units which exclude membrane unit disassembly, i. e. CIP (clean-in-place) systems.

Considering crossflow/dynamic mode of filtration, cleaning is mostly performed by 'forward' flow which means that directions of flushing and feed flows are the same.

However, it is also possible to use 'back' flow, when permeate is flushed through the membrane to the feed side.

Cleaning regimes as well as compositions of cleaning solutions are specifically selected for every BM unit, in accordance with laboratory test or BM unit operational test, as a minimum.

It is important to consider 'temperature' and 'dynamic' impacts on ceramic membranes. Temperature and pressure of cleaning solution should be changed slowly; otherwise, there may be caused mechanical damage to membrane.
